The next stop is Swindon

Great Western Railway (GWR), colloquially known as the "Great Will-It-Turn-Up Railway", is an incredibly Expensive, unreliable railway service with expertise in the Delay and Cancellation of trains. They excel in turning Train travel into Passenger Misery and were voted #1 in this category by our author.

Like a lot of public transport in the UK, they're part of the First Group, who you know are as cheap as possible since they're from Aberdeen.

Particularly known for it's corporate slogan "The next stop is Swindon." which always elicits a positive and pleasant reaction from riders due to the fact that it is not Slough.

Top stations by passenger volume (2025)

Rank Station Passengers (annual)
1 Swindon 4.2 million*
2 Swindon Paddington 3.9 million
3 Swindon Parkway 3.1 million
4 Swindon Spa 2.8 million
5 Swindon Temple Meads 2.4 million
6 Swindon-on-Sea 1.9 million
7 Swindon International 1.3 million
8 Slough (formerly Swindon) 0.9 million
9 Swindon Central Swindon 0.4 million
10 Not Swindon (Beta) 0.1 million

* Swindon was expecting 8.4 million passengers in 2025, but due to GWR cancelling roughly half of all services, these passengers had to be cut in half, helping no-one.
